Experience:

Experience with abdominal surgeries is required. Strong experience with tracheostomies is required. Experience with Foley catheters, surgical drains, surgical oncology, wound vacs, ostomy, ports, PICCs, TPN, and lipids is required.
License:
Current state license required.
Certifications:
ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required. TNCC preferred.
Must-Have:
Must have experience with tracheostomies. Must rate 3/4 in GI section of skills checklist, with exceptions for liver transplant experience. Must have strong skills in Foley catheters, surgical drains, surgical oncology, wound vacs, ostomy, ports, PICCs, TPN, and lipids.
Description:
The position is in an acute progressive unit with a focus on trauma and GI post-operative patients. Candidates must have ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and telemetry experience. Candidates should have experience collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. Patient diagnoses include colorectal surgery patients with new ostomy placement and take down, head and neck surgery, surgical oncology, plastic surgery, and abdominal surgery. Daily census is approximately 32 patients.
The unit strongly emphasizes trauma care and has a robust support system including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams. Candidates will be required to float within the facility and to nearby affiliate locations as needed. Compliance with health and safety protocols is expected. Additional skills include managing and interpreting dysrhythmias, starting and maintaining IVs, phlebotomy, pre/post hemodialysis management, and wound care.
Modules and training will be part of annual requirements.
