Assessment Clinician (PRN) – Ridge Behavioral Health System, Lexington, KY
The Ridge Behavioral Health System is a 110‑bed free‑standing psychiatric hospital located in Lexington, KY. We provide psychiatric and substance‑use disorder treatment to children, adolescents, and adults, including partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient programs, individual counseling, and medication management. We serve more than 92 Kentucky counties and have operated for 39 years.
Responsibilities- Perform telephonic, telehealth, and in‑person risk assessments (history of presenting illness, suicide risk, family dynamics, psychosocial information).
- Conduct initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinate the referral and intake process, determine appropriate level of care, and facilitate admission.
- Maintain communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff; follow company policies, procedures, and the Corporate Compliance Program.
- Coordinate and disposition all referral calls to appropriate level of care.
- Complete admissions with psychiatrists and nursing staff.
- Complete pre‑certification information and forward to appropriate agencies in conjunction with Business Office and Utilization Review.

- Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Human Services with at least two years of crisis experience;
Registered Nurse; LCSW/LPCC/LMFT preferred.
- Prior intake, assessment, admission, and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting.
- Three years’ experience and knowledge in the area of mental health.
- Human Services related field; must be eligible for supervision if not independently licensed.
- Current RN license, if applicable.
- Criminal, CPR, and Assessing & Managing Suicide Risk (AMSR) trainings required (to be provided upon hire).
- Knowledge of hospital admissions functions; crisis intervention and risk assessment; psychiatric diagnoses and symptomology; basic chemical dependency; age‑specific growth and development.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
