OR Nurse

OR Circulator Registered Nurse (RN), Surgical Services Department Bluegrass Specialty Surgery Center is hiring an OR Circulator Registered Nurse (RN) for our Surgical Services Department in Lexington, KY.The OR Circulator RN is an integral member of the surgical team and is responsible for coordinating and providing nursing care throughout the intraoperative phase of the surgical experience. This role works closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other members of the care team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

This OR Circulator RN opportunity is a full-time, on-site position at our surgery center in Lexington, KY.OR Circulator Registered Nurse

Roles and Responsibilities:

Coordinate and provide nursing care to patients throughout the intraoperative phase

Perform and document thorough patient assessments prior to surgical procedures

Verify patient identity, surgical procedure, operative site, consent, allergies, and other required documentation

Prepare the operating room and ensure appropriate equipment, supplies, medications, and instrumentation are available

Assist with safe patient positioning, skin preparation, and application of monitoring devices

Participate in surgical time-outs and ensure adherence to established safety protocols

Maintain a safe and sterile surgical environment in collaboration with the surgical team Anticipate the needs of the surgeon, anesthesia provider, and surgical team throughout procedures

Monitor and document patient status, medications, specimens, implants, supplies, and intraoperative events accurately and timely

Perform and document surgical counts in collaboration with the scrub technician

Coordinate specimen handling, labeling, and transport according to established protocols

Advocate for the patient and maintain patient safety, privacy, and dignity throughout the surgical experience

Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to the appropriate members of the surgical team Assist with patient transfer to the PACU and provide a thorough handoff to the receiving nurse

Supervise and direct non-professional personnel as appropriate and delegated

Follow all facility policies, infection-control standards, regulatory requirements, and established nursing practices

Required Skills &

Qualifications:

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred

Minimum of one year of RN experience in an acute care or surgical setting

Previous Operating Room/Circulator experience strongly preferred

Experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) preferred

Knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile technique, infection prevention, and perioperative patient safety

Ability to assess patient needs, establish priorities, and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition

Strong communication, organization, and clinical decision-making skills

Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary surgical team Positive attitude and commitment to providing safe, efficient, patient-centered care Ability to promote a favorable facility image with physicians, patients, families, and the public
