Nurse Clinical/UKHC / PAIN MANAGEMENT / 7P

Registered Nurses on the Adult Acute Pain Management Service at UK Chandler Hospital/Kentucky Childrens Hospital provide care for patients of all ages suffering from acute or chronic pain or other physical complaints related to pain. The scope of pain management patients is diverse and includes patients with musculoskeletal conditions various neuropathic disorders cancer-related post-surgical trauma and illness-related pain. Our comprehensive pain service takes a patient and family-centered approach and works closely with partners in pharmacy surgery palliative care psychiatry physical therapy and other complementary services to address the pain experience unique to adults and children.

Adult Pain Management Service provides a comprehensive evaluation including consultations to reduce pain and discomfort to the greatest degree possible. As a part of this service the RN serves as an important component of the multidisciplinary team and will work in close collaboration with the adult acute pain attending anesthesiologist. This team is responsible for the formulation of an individualized treatment plan to assist adults and children with acute or chronic pain manage their symptoms within the context of their daily lives.

The ideal candidate will have the following: knowledge of Maslows eight Basic Human Needs and the priority within Gordons Functional Health Patterns Frame Work as well as Swansons Caring model superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet ability to communicate in a professional and respectful manner with patients and their families co-workers and physicians and strong organizational prioritization and delegation skill.

The candidate will be highly motivated pro-active and confident in advocating for patients and their family members. Will also enjoy working in a strong team environment and provides open honest communication with fellow staff and physicians. In addition the ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical skills and a proven ability to work in a team as well as independently.
