Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Technician
Position Summary
The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Technician supports the implementation and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements. This role assists in promoting a safe work environment, preventing workplace injuries, and supporting environmental sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine safety inspections and workplace audits.
- Assist in identifying hazards and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Support incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company EHS requirements.
- Maintain EHS records, reports, permits, and documentation.
- Assist with environmental compliance programs, including waste management and recycling initiatives.
- Conduct employee safety orientations and EHS training sessions.
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Participate in emergency response planning and drills.
- Track and report key EHS performance indicators.
- Support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems activities.
- Work closely with supervisors and employees to promote a strong safety culture.
Qualifications
Education
- Technician's Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- 2+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing, industrial, automotive, or logistics environment preferred.
Language Requirements
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prepare reports, procedures, and training materials in English.
Technical Knowledge
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices.
- Understanding of environmental compliance requirements.
- Hazard identification and risk assessment techniques.
- Incident investigation and corrective action tracking.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards preferred.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to workplace safety and environmental stewardship.
Certifications Preferred
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Forklift Safety Trainer Certification (if applicable).
- Manufacturing and office environment.
- Frequent presence on the production floor.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and conduct facility inspections.
- Occasional overtime and weekend support as needed.
