Job Summary
The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Department of Entomology seeks a Laboratory Technician Senior to support integrated pest management (IPM) research and Extension programs focused on specialty crop systems (fruit and vegetable production). Under the direction of the project director, this position will:
- Coordinate and conduct field and laboratory research activities
- Assist with insect monitoring and trapping programs
- Maintain research plots and equipment
- Collect and manage data
- Support Extension demonstrations and educational programs
- Assist with training and supervision of student employees
The successful candidate will play an important role in generating research-based information for Kentucky growers and supporting Extension outreach efforts across the Commonwealth.

- Assisting with data analysis and reporting
- Contributing to presentations, publications, and educational materials

Skills / Knowledge / AbilitiesThe ideal candidate will have proficiency using a microscope and strong computer skills, primarily experience with Microsoft Office. This position will require initiative, high attention to detail, strong interpersonal, planning and organizational skills as well as the ability to work independently.
Preferred Education / ExperiencePreferred candidates will have a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology, Entomology or related discipline.
Driver’s License – preferred.

Requires handling of light-weight objects up to 10 pounds, or some standing or walking.
Shift: Days, Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (37.5 hours/week)
