Job Overview

Prevention Program Coordinator – The Markey Cancer Center Community Impact Office is recruiting a Research Advocacy Manager (Prevention Program Coordinator) to manage the Research Advocacy Program (RAP) under the Kentucky Cancer Program.

Responsibilities
  • Recruit and train an expanding group of research advocates comprised of survivors, caregivers and community-based organizations.
  • Train researchers to collaborate with advocates, providing feedback on communicating with lay audiences.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships between research advocates and researchers to inform cancer prevention, early detection, treatment and survivorship research.
  • Plan meeting logistics, manage communications with advocates and researchers, and facilitate RAP meetings.
  • Work in a hybrid arrangement with Monday‑Friday 8:00‑4:30 am, with some evenings and weekends as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) required;
    Master’s degree in Social Work, Public Health, Public Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Communication, Nursing or other health‑related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge or experience with cancer research is preferred.
  • Experience in team‑building and managing multiple priorities among researchers and patient partners is preferred.
Other Requirements
  • Physical ability to handle lightweight objects up to 10 pounds, sit for long periods, perform repetitive motion and some standing or walking.
  • Can work full‑time and meet the shift schedule.
