Job Summary

The Martin‑Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment seeks a Research Analyst Principal. The analyst will work in the Department of Animal and Food Sciences and will assist with food science research. Starting in early 2027, the department will be moving to the new Agricultural Research Building, equipped with cutting‑edge laboratory space. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required to be successful in this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and analyze food samples.
  • Analyze and report results.
  • Prepare manuscripts and assist in preparation of grant proposals based on research data.
  • Develop, validate and improve laboratory methods using proper technique.
  • Supervise the workflow of samples for laboratory analyses, cleaning and maintenance duties, and data calculations and reports.
  • Maintain chemical and laboratory consumables.
  • Manage chemical and hazardous waste and safety documentation.
  • Train graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and visiting scholars.
  • Assist in teaching lab sessions.
Qualifications
  • Required

    Education:

    Master of Science (MS).

    Required Experience:

    2 years of research experience in food quality evaluation and protein analysis.
  • Experience operating analytical instruments such as centrifuge, electrophoresis equipment, and spectrophotometer.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in laboratory safety and waste management procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS in Food Science with 2 years research experience in food quality evaluation and protein analysis.
