Job DetailsThe store manager leads Mattress Firm’s vision and initiatives, achieves sales performance goals by holding associates accountable for execution of in-store merchandising across multiple units. The manager leads selling programs, drives related KPI results, and supports the omni‑channel experience. This individual ensures teams always put the customer at the center and creates a compelling and engaging environment for MFRM team members.
As an effective coach, the Store Manager develops associates’ skills and performance, fostering a collaborative and motivated team dedicated to achieving success.
Conduct one‑on‑one meetings to gain a deep understanding of each team member’s motivations and personal/professional aspirations. Develop a comprehensive team “bio book” that grows alongside the team, incorporating new insights and knowledge as it is gained. Have 30‑60‑90‑day check‑ins with new team members to discuss progress and opportunities.
Workforce ManagementConduct workforce management activities (store staffing schedule, reconciling punches, etc.) utilizing Operations team support and tools. Ensure company policies, appearance and functionality standards, and state regulations are followed. Represent the Company brand in all internal and external interactions. Follow Company procedures for product transfers to ensure proper inventory documentation. Plan strategically and analyze company reporting to determine appropriate staffing levels, partnering with leadership to implement changes.
TalentDevelopment
Provide technical and product knowledge to associates and customers, serving as a subject‑matter expert. Analyze reporting to identify skill gaps and address them through coaching.
Business Operations and Acumen- Achieve or exceed individual store financial targets through effective execution and customer service at the store level.
- Ensure store execution of product merchandising, marketing, and POP standards.
- Partner with marketing to plan, implement and monitor the store’s social media strategy to positively impact brand awareness and increase sales.
- Ensure timely opening and closing procedures.
- Manage stock inventory levels for the assigned store.
- Review merchandise flow for the store, ensuring accurate stock.
- Follow all Company procedures on cash handling, including acceptance of payment and deposit processes.
- Adhere to all sales processing policies to ensure the proper creation and execution of customer invoicing.
- Ability to stand or sit for 8+ hours at a time.
- Execute company initiatives and any other activities requested by the supervisor.
- Maintain awareness of competition, advertisements and services offered, and develop strategies to counter them.
- Conduct store‑level inventory processes and research any discrepancies, partnering with leadership and corporate partners as needed.

Competitive pay range of $63,000 – $84,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities may be available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
