Police Sergeant

UK Health Care Police Sergeants are responsible for providing the UK Health Care community with a safe and secure environment in which to work, live and learn. This position will serve primarily at Chandler Hospital.

The major job responsibilities of the UK Health Care Police Sergeant include:

• Supervision and management
• Patrol and investigations
• Public relations and service
• Professional development and training

• Providing supervision to the UKPD Health Care operations
• Reviewing and approving reports
• Developing officers
• Patrolling on foot, bike, and mobile patrol
• Enforcing the law
• Investigating crimes
• Building community relations
• Preparing and presenting testimony in court
• Providing security and traffic control for special University events
• Completing University and law‑enforcement related reports

Required education:
High School Diploma.

Required related experience: 4 years in law enforcement.

Required license/registration/certification:
Police Certification.

Lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 100 lbs.; sitting, walking, and standing long periods; handling intermittent periods of high levels of stress.

10‑hour shifts, four days a week on either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift:

• 1st shift: 7:00 am to 5:00 pm
• 2nd shift: 4:00 pm to 2:00 am
• 3rd shift: 10:00 pm to 8:00 am

Days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime.
