Position: Low Voltage Technician 3

Amteck is a nationally recognized electrical design‑build contractor.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of 4–6 technicians to install, repair, terminate, certify, and troubleshoot low voltage systems and cabling.
  • Assist the Site Superintendent and assume their responsibilities when needed.
  • Provide leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills while continuously developing these abilities.
  • Train, supervise, and work with other technicians.
  • Determine and complete installation pathways with minimal instruction or supervision.
  • Install, repair, terminate, certify, and label cabling for Infrastructure (ITS), Access Control/Security Cameras (CCTV), and Paging systems.
  • Install devices for Access Control/Security Cameras (CCTV), Access Points (Wi‑Fi), and Paging systems.
  • Assist with service calls that involve troubleshooting faults in Copper (analog), Fiber (Audio/Visual), Cameras (CCTV) systems.
  • Maintain inventory and materials at the assigned site.
  • Plan and communicate task schedules and goals with the manager.
  • Build out MDF, IDF, enclosures, ladder trays, baskets, and install 2‑4 post racks independently.
  • Perform punch‑down, routing, labeling, and dressing of all cabling entering racks or enclosures.
  • Install and maintain Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems in racks or enclosures.
  • Identify and differentiate Multi‑Mode and Single‑Mode fiber; use certifiers to interpret copper and fiber test results.
  • Participate in leadership training opportunities.
  • Identify and communicate delays or obstacles to supervisors.
  • Adhere to BICSI, ANSI, TIA standards and NEC codes for low‑voltage installations.
  • Terminate data jacks and mod plugs; feed cable, wire, and fibers safely.
  • Operate, maintain, and interpret test equipment; upload results to the proper location.
  • Print labels per job specifications; cross‑connect or patch in copper or fiber as designed.
  • Maintain detailed records of device and cabling locations.
  • Ensure fire stopping, riser versus plenum compliance.
  • Collaborate with other construction trades in a safe and productive manner.
  • Handle small electronic parts with skillful manipulation.
  • Work in confined areas, overhead, at heights, and in varied weather conditions.
  • Work quickly in emergency situations and perform under pressure.
  • Complete tasks accurately, seek guidance when unclear, and transition to new tasks promptly.
  • Learn job‑related material through peers, supervisors, and company training.
  • Accountable for tools and materials used on the jobsite.
  • Obtain required Amteck safety certifications; communicate safety deficiencies.
Qualifications
  • At least four (4) years of verified experience with low‑voltage systems and cabling.
  • Ability to plan project workflow based on design basis and task efficiency.
  • Experience installing, troubleshooting, or maintaining any of the following systems:
    Infrastructure (ITS), Access Control/Security Cameras (CCTV), Paging, Copper, Fiber, Audio/Visual, Access Points (Wi‑Fi).
  • Certification or ability to obtain Unicam and Mini‑Com fiber terminations.
  • Proficiency with MDF, IDF, enclosures, ladder trays, baskets, and 2‑4 post rack installation.
  • Experience with punch‑down, routing, labeling, and dressing of cabling.
  • Experience installing UPS systems.
  • Understanding of Multi‑Mode versus Single‑Mode fiber and proper termination.
  • Proficiency with test equipment, interpreting copper and fiber results, and using Fluke testing software.
  • Ability to use Fluke software, COINS, Box, Microsoft Office, and related applications.
  • Excellent record‑keeping and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of BICSI, ANSI, TIA, NEC codes for low‑voltage installation.
  • Proficiency in measuring to 1/16 inch with a tape measure.
  • Will provide personal hand tools within 30 days of employment as per Amteck’s tool list.
  • Basic customer‑relationship skills and eagerness to grow that skill.
  • Safe operation of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, wire maps, and other drawings, including enclosure specifications.
  • Physical ability to meet job requirements and travel as needed.
