Apprentice Elevator Mechanic
This role offers an opportunity to develop as an apprentice elevator mechanic by working closely with licensed mechanics on new construction and new elevator installation sites. You will learn hands‑on skills in mechanical and electrical work, support installations, and interact with customers while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, organization, and safety. MUST BE GOOD WITH OVERNIGHT TRAVEL MON‑FRIDAY
Responsibilities- Shadow licensed elevator mechanics on new construction and new elevator installation job sites to learn the trade through hands‑on experience.
- Assist with elevator installation tasks under supervision, including mechanical assembly and basic electrical work.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure tools and materials are properly stored and handled.
- Support mechanics by reading and interpreting tape measurements accurately for layout and installation tasks.
- Help review and follow blueprints and schematics under guidance to understand system layouts and installation requirements.
- Communicate professionally with customers and site personnel, listening carefully to instructions and addressing basic questions as directed.
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and working in small or confined spaces as required by the job.
- Use basic mechanical skills and tools to assist in assembling, installing, and adjusting elevator components.
- Follow safety procedures at all times, including safe use of equipment and adherence to site safety rules.
- Work outdoors on active construction sites and adapt to changing site conditions and schedules.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
- Mechanical skill set suitable for working with tools and mechanical components.
- Comfort working in small or confined spaces.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong cleanliness and organizational habits on job sites.
- Effective time management skills to follow schedules and complete tasks as directed.
- Ability to listen carefully to customers and supervisors and follow instructions.
- Comfort working around electrical and construction environments.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with MIG and stick welding is highly beneficial.
- Ability to read blueprints is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics is a plus.
- Background in auto mechanics is helpful and transfers well to this role.
- Any prior mechanic or electrical experience is considered an advantage.
- Experience in construction environments is beneficial.

- 6 months: $22/hour
- 1 year: $26/hour
- 1.5 years: $28/hour

- 3 years: $34/hour
- 3.5 years: $36/hour
- 4+ years: $42+/hour

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lexington, KY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $14.00 - $14.00/hr.
