Service Technician IV – Diesel Mechanic

As a Diesel Mechanic – Experienced (Service Tech IV), you’ll use your skills to perform maintenance and repairs of complex equipment with limited or no supervision in a highly skilled, safe, and professional manner. You will have the opportunity to work toward leadership roles within the Service Department.

• Maintain and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools.
• Use a high degree of independent judgment for day‑to‑day repair and maintenance tasks.
• Travel to customer job sites as required for repair/maintenance of rental or customer‑owned equipment.
• Maintain a clean and professional service vehicle.
• Assist in training lower‑level technicians as needed.
• Document work performed in electronic and written work orders on a daily basis.
• Assist with pick‑up and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• 5+ years of experience repairing and maintaining construction equipment and tools.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Extensive knowledge of construction equipment with an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
• Must own tools applicable to the position.
• Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
• This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
