Position: Fire Sprinkler Systems Technician 5

Responsibilities

  • Perform the installation of fire protection piping, valves, and accessories for commercial and industrial applications.
  • Serve and troubleshoot wet, dry, and pre‑action sprinkler systems, fire pump‑based fire sprinkler systems, and backflows, including repair and internal inspections.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions, read and interpret complex construction blueprints, diagrams, and specifications used in installation activities.
  • Carry or move equipment and tools weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, working on scaffolding, and using high‑lift equipment up to 40 feet or more.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, properly disposing of all trash associated with the work.
  • Wear appropriate safety equipment as required, including bump cap/hard hat, safety glasses, cut‑resistant gloves, face mask, and safety‑toed boots.
  • Secure all fire protection tools and equipment at the end of each work period to prevent damage or loss.
  • Have basic computer and phone skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and iPhone apps and functions.
  • Complete and submit time reports and other required documents.
  • Report any changes, discrepancies, or coordination problems that impair activities or schedules to the dispatcher or supervisor.
  • Occasionally work alternate shifts or weekends to meet customer service or on‑call requirements.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience in the fire protection industry.
  • Working knowledge of wet, dry, and pre‑action sprinkler systems and fire pumps.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preferred:
    Sprinkler and Backflow license (a plus or one that can be obtained).
  • Preferred: NICET certification.
  • Completion of an accredited skilled‑trade education program.
