Diesel Technician

Position Description

Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Lexington, Kentucky — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.

• $30.50 per hour
• Certification bonus of up to $700 ($100 for each new ASE certification)
• Quarterly bonus up to $500
• Schedule:
  
  Monday through Friday, weekends off
• Hours:
  
  Second Shift 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identify root causes and perform repairs
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint
• Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation
• Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
• Perform other support duties as required, including service island support

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or technical certification, or post‑secondary degree preferred
• Basic tools required
• Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Two (2) years or more of classroom training and work experience preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
• Must obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including verification of drug and alcohol records from previous employers for the last 3 years
• Some positions require additional screening (education verification, motor‑vehicle records, road test, and/or customer background requirements)
