SummaryThe HVAC Journeyman’s primary responsibilities involve performing preventative maintenance, installing duct, compression, and other HVAC systems in new buildings, and working with apprentices to provide on‑job experience.
Responsibilities- Repair malfunctioning HVAC systems
- Inspect functioning systems for potential issues
- Install new HVAC systems in new build or renovation projects
- Follow blueprints from other HVAC specialists or design your own systems
- Test and troubleshoot your installations after completion
- Assist the HVAC installation team with disconnect replacements, wire pulls, and other electrical items as needed
- Use a variety of tools and techniques to repair and maintain HVAC systems and determine the best way to install new systems
- Follow all safety requirements and OSHA guidelines while working
- Complete services using protective measures to keep customers’ homes clean and undamaged
- Answer any customer questions about HVAC systems and components while striving for customer satisfaction
- Perform other duties as requested
- Proficient in HVAC systems
- Ability to use a wide variety of tools and techniques
- Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics
- Ability to communicate policies and procedures effectively, verbally and in writing
- Ability to follow safety standards
- Ability to manage time effectively and efficiently
- Ability to multi‑task
- Regular and reliable attendance
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Any air conditioning certifications
- Operate tablet, mobile phone, and other field equipment as needed
- Read, write, speak, hear, see, think, communicate, concentrate, learn, and work
- Lift/carry up to 50 lbs repeatedly during work hours
- Climb up and down ladders and/or step stools repeatedly during work hours
- Sit/stand for long periods of time during work hours
- Work in small and confined dark spaces such as crawl spaces, attics, etc.
- Work in a wide range of temperatures (indoor/outdoor)
- Travel up to 75% of the time between job sites and customer locations
- Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
