Overview
The Auto Body Technician’s primary responsibility and accountability is to provide an exceptional and successful customer experience through meticulous assessment and quality repair of each vehicle to restore it back to pre‑accident condition. The technician disassembles, repairs, and reassembles vehicles while supporting the company’s promise of speed, quality, and customer excellence. The role also involves maintaining KPIs and serving as a brand ambassador.
Key Job Responsibilities- Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
- Plan repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers.
- Use tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections.
- Repair dents, dimples, and minor body damage and apply filler resins when needed.
- Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
- Remove damaged sections and replace them with new or aftermarket parts.
- Replace or repair glass and windshields as needed.
- Replace or repair interior parts as needed.
- Weld, attach, or fit parts into place.
- Prepare and repaint vehicles with factory‑specified or agreed‑upon paint.
- Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines.
- Inspect vehicles after repair to ensure correct execution.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3‑year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
RequiredSkills and Abilities
- Read job orders and work with minimal supervision.
- Work collaboratively with other repairers.
- Deep understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
- Proficient use of trade tools.
- Work safely in a noisy area with many odors.
- Lift up to 30 pounds at times.
- Visually inspect vehicle damage in various weather conditions.
- Be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
$75,000+ annually depending on flagged hours per week.
