Technician Diesel Mechanic

Position Description

Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Lexington, Kentucky. This role offers weekly pay and excellent benefits.

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Carry out standard vehicle maintenance tasks.
• Conduct component inspections and repairs.
• Execute preventive maintenance activities.
• Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computers when applicable.
• Identify root causes of basic failures and conditions and perform necessary repairs.
• Replace defective components as instructed.
• Perform facility maintenance duties.
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once assigned a task.
• Use key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation available.
• Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT).
• Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or technical certification, postsecondary degree, or technical certifications preferred.
• Basic tools required.
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance such as oil changes, brake, and tire work.
• Two (2) years or more of combined classroom training and work experience in the required field preferred.
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred.
• Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.
