HVAC Technician

This role focuses on installing, testing, and servicing HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ventilation units, and ductwork. You will interpret technical documentation, connect electrical and mechanical components, ensure systems operate efficiently and safely, and provide high-quality service to customers and support to junior team members.

Responsibilities
  • Service and install HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ventilation units, and ductwork in residential and commercial settings.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to plan and execute accurate installations.
  • Connect electrical wiring and piping to HVAC components in accordance with technical specifications and safety standards.
  • Test HVAC systems for proper functionality, performance, and efficiency, and make adjustments as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems and components, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Ensure all work complies with local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of installations, service calls, repairs, and parts used.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and on-the-job training to junior installers or apprentices.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, supervisors, and team members to ensure project success and customer satisfaction.
  • Use appropriate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively during installation and service work.
Essential Skills
  • 2–3 years of hands-on HVAC service and installation experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to assemble, install, and service HVAC equipment.
  • Strong electrical aptitude for connecting wiring and components safely and accurately.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting HVAC systems and diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • EPA certification.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces, on rooftops, and in varying field service conditions.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment as required by installations and repairs.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on safe and effective solutions.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with clients, apprentices, and team members.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Technical training or formal HVAC certification is preferred.
  • NATE certification is a plus.
  • Experience using hand tools and construction tools for installation and repair work.
  • Background in construction or field service environments.
  • Experience performing HVAC service, repair, and installation in both residential and commercial settings.
  • Ability to provide informal training and mentorship to junior team members.

This is a contract position based out of Lexington, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
