Overview
The Ridge Behavioral Health System is a 110‑bed psychiatric hospital located in Lexington, KY. As the only free‑standing psychiatric hospital in Central Kentucky, we provide treatment and services for children, adolescents, and adults. This role serves as a Mental Health Technician and Patient Transportation Driver in a full‑time capacity.
Responsibilities- Facilitate group activities tailored to the appropriate topic, age, and level of understanding, as approved by the Program Coordinator.
- Ensure patients are consistently monitored in the proper location for the duration of activities.
- Provide crisis intervention as necessary, anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors and using de‑escalation techniques to maintain safety.
- Operate specialized vehicles equipped for safely transporting patients, adhering to all safety protocols and traffic regulations.
- Document transportation activities, including mileage, destinations, and any incidents or unusual occurrences.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks, such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and overall vehicle condition, and report any issues to Maintenance.
- High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
- Experience in patient transport, medical transportation, or a related field preferred.
- Basic knowledge of emotional and mental health and disease concepts, including addiction.
- Clear communication and interaction skills and competency in facilitating psycho‑education groups.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to attend a two‑week paid hospital orientation (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday‑Friday).

Full‑time position. The role requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to perform transportation duties in addition to therapeutic responsibilities. The orientation will be paid for two weeks.
