Senior Minister

Position SummaryThe Senior Minister serves as the primary spiritual leader and visionary for Tates Creek Christian Church. Reporting to the Board of Elders, this role is responsible for executing the Evangelism Strategic Plan, casting the church’s vision, and fostering an “irresistible community” through biblically-grounded preaching, strategic discipleship, and executive leadership.
Core Responsibilities- Visionary & Strategic Leadership:
Partner with Elders and the Executive Minister to translate high-level vision into actionable ministry plans and goals. - Preaching & Teaching:
Oversee the preaching calendar and deliver approximately 40 compelling, biblically-grounded sermons annually that address current issues and inspire spiritual growth. Coordinate guest speakers and internal resources to ensure high-quality teaching for the remaining 12 Sundays. - Worship & Evangelism:
Lead the design and evaluation of worship services while prioritizing the salvation of the lost and the maturation of disciples. - Staff Management & Development:
Direct and coach assigned staff—including the Executive Minister—and provide intentional mentorship to younger ministry leaders. - Pastoral Care:
Partner with Elders to provide congregational shepherding, including counsel, weddings, and funerals.
- Spiritual Character:
Maintain a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer and dependence on the Holy Spirit; lead with patience, love, empathy, and a sense of humor. - Operational Excellence:
Demonstrate high-level skills in planning, organization, and the implementation of strategic goals to drive church growth. - Communication Mastery:
Deliver clear, multi-channel communication (digital and interpersonal) across all demographics and navigate conflict with high emotional intelligence. - Professional Growth:
Actively engage with mentors and embrace constructive feedback to ensure continuous personal and professional improvement. - Collaborative Governance:
Operate with a deep understanding of Biblical Eldership and maintain strong ties with sister churches and local missions.
Standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, pulling, and lifting up to 40 pounds. Sitting for five hours and standing or walking for three hours.
Immediate SupervisorReports to the Board of Elders.
Qualifications- Education:
Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent theological degree and experience. - Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of pastoral leadership specifically within a Restoration Movement church, including proven staff management experience. - Alignment:
Agree to uphold the Tates Creek Christian Church Statement of Faith. - Technical Proficiency:
Skilled in optimizing technology and digital platforms to perform ministry duties effectively.
- Full-Time Status:
Requires a flexible, 40+ hour schedule tailored to the rhythm of church life. - Availability:
Demand for both regularly scheduled office hours and on-call availability for urgent pastoral needs. - Core Engagement:
Consistent presence at weekend services, evening meetings, pastoral visits, and special church events.
