Communications Specialist - Lexington, Kentucky
We are looking for a Communications Specialist to support our emergency medical services operations. You will collaborate with experts to enhance communication initiatives and serve patients and partners efficiently.
Sign‑on BonusUp to $7,500.
Responsibilities- Assimilate information to make quality decisions and perform specialized communication services (transport requests, triage, radio communications).
- Maintain effective communication with crew members and aircraft using a complex statewide, multi‑channeled radio system, and perform flight‑following procedures.
- Document accurate medical information for transport activities, ensuring legal compliance.
- Input flight and ground transport data into the network database in accordance with FAA Part 135 and PHI policies.
- Facilitate positive relationships with referring and receiving facilities and pre‑hospital agencies.
- Implement procedures for notifying administration or relevant agencies during incidents or emergencies.
- Attend departmental staff meetings and continuing education meetings.
- Receive incoming quote requests for long‑distance air medical transports, calculate price quotes, and educate callers.
- Initiate the front‑end billing process for quoted patient accounts and assist with follow‑up.
- Make outbound follow‑up calls regarding quote status and identify opportunities to fill backhaul flight legs.
- Perform other duties as required.
- 3‑ or 4‑day schedule.
- Phoenix, AZ
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: EMS and/or air medical communications experience; public relations, customer service, marketing or sales; healthcare billing and insurance.
- Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Word and Excel; ability to learn custom software.
- Excellent customer service skills; ability to remain calm under pressure and make clear, logical decisions.
- Must pass pre‑placement drug screening and background check.
- Position designated Safety Sensitive under the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act.
- Successful completion of Communications Specialist Academy.
