Locomotive Engineer – Lexington, KY / Louisville, KY

Overview: R. J. Corman Railroad Company is seeking dynamic Locomotive Engineers in Lexington, KY and Louisville, KY. Candidates should be ambitious, dependable, and ready for on‑call work.
Accountability: Performed engine operation, on‑ground duties, equipment and track maintenance, and other assigned duties to assist in efficient railroad operation. Progress in skill and responsibilities over time.
Responsibilities- Assist in all phases of the safe daily operation of trains.
- Operate equipment according to company policies, procedures and practices (including safety regulations FRA & OSHA, DOT requirements).
- Operate track switches, couple cars, and work on freight trains in yard operations.
- Move and align rail equipment to create or build trains.
- Multi‑task safely while pulling, controlling, and maneuvering onto and off equipment.
- Work on‑call basis; available 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week, in all weather.
- Adhere to irregular work schedules determined by rotation.
- Operate from home daily position and maintain contact telephone.
- Handle increasing responsibilities, including locomotive engineering duties.
- Subject to random alcohol and drug testing per FRA guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
FRA Conductor and/or Engineer certification preferred. Must be mechanically inclined, with basic reading and math skills. Demonstrated teamwork and effective communication with all personnel levels.
Physical RequirementsMobile to frequent travel on the short line and region. Must pull, control, and maneuver equipment. Occasionally lift at least 80 lbs. Walk long distances over uneven surfaces. Must be available for 24/7 on‑call duty.
Environmental ConditionsPrimary work outdoors near moving locomotives, railcars, vehicles, and equipment. Frequent exposure to weather elements; protective PPE required.
