Sigma, Inc. is hiring an experienced Practice Assistant – Administrative for a 3-month onsite contract supporting a Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) Primary Care location in Lexington, Massachusetts

We are seeking a customer-focused healthcare administrative professional with experience in Epic
, patient registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and front desk operations. This role is ideal for candidates with exceptional communication skills and a passion for delivering outstanding patient care.
Eligibility Requirement: Candidates must have been separated from Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) for at least 6 months to be considered.
Key Responsibilities- Greet patients and provide exceptional front desk customer service
- Verify patient demographic and insurance information during check-in
- Schedule patient appointments using the Epic scheduling system
- Answer and triage high-volume inbound calls professionally
- Follow established phone scripts and scheduling protocols
- Determine appropriate appointment types, providers, and urgency levels
- Obtain and document referrals and insurance authorizations
- Update patient records and demographic information
- Coordinate scheduling for office visits, diagnostic testing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and radiology services
- Educate patients regarding appointment preparation and required documentation
- Record and forward accurate messages to providers and clinical staff
- Respond to provider requests and emails promptly
- Escalate urgent patient concerns to the appropriate clinical team
- Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- Support efficient clinic operations through accurate documentation and scheduling
- Previous experience as a Practice Assistant, Medical Receptionist, Patient Service Representative, Medical Administrative Assistant, or Front Desk Coordinator
- Epic EMR/EHR experience (Required)
- Strong customer service and patient interaction skills
- Experience with:
- Patient registration
- Appointment scheduling
- Insurance verification
- Demographic updates
- Referral coordination
- Ability to manage high-volume phone calls
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
