Job DescriptionCandidate will have strong communication skills to coordinate information related to any construction activity disruptions, shutdowns, and other tasks that affect ongoing MIT LL Laboratory Operations. This includes mass communication with all affected lab personnel, micro‑communication to specific divisions, groups, and tenants about disruptions caused by scheduled construction activities.
Provide oversight of daily field operations and construction progress while ensuring proper construction site safety and quality control standards are met.
Provide oversight of construction contractors to ensure the scope is completed according to plans and specifications and meets all applicable standards and codes.
Develop comprehensive understanding of project strategy and commitments including scheduling, logistics, phasing, milestones, and inspections.
Work in partnership with PM to maintain an updated and accurate project schedule that reflects changes in project status and meets the cost and time requirements of the project.
Provide construction progress reports to the PM and provide administrative support necessary for project completion.
Demonstrate and maintain effective and open dialogue with the project team and building occupants regarding changes in work, job conditions, contractor relations, and any deviation in the direction of the project.
Promote positive relationships by dealing expertly and fairly with all general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors while instilling this philosophy in the project team.
Because MIT LL is located on Hanscom AFB, develop the understanding visitor/security requirements for vendors, contractors, and consultants to access HAFB and MIT LL and manage that process.
Develop understanding for the CPO /MIT LL procurement process to secure vendors, contractors and consultants to perform various tasks.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in the construction industry.
- OSHA 10 Certification (OSHA 30 is a bonus).
- Understanding of design and engineering of construction projects.
- Experience utilizing project management software – Procore.
- Knowledge of construction activities including material, equipment, cost and time requirements.
- Knowledge of construction codes.
- A broad understanding of all facility engineering disciplines and building trades.
- Demonstrated capabilities in presenting ideas written and orally.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance.
- Selected individuals must possess ability to climb portable and permanent ladders, stairs, staging, work in confined areas, crawling over and around equipment and pipe found in mechanical rooms and similar locations.
- Knowledge of various OSHA regulations such as LO/TO, confined space, fall protection, wearing of PPE, etc. is required.
