About the Opportunity

Liberty Church is seeking a spiritually mature, musically gifted, and relationally strong Worship Leader—preferably someone who leads vocally from guitar to guide our congregation in meaningful, Christ-centered worship while building and developing a healthy team of musicians and vocalists.

We are a growing, friendly, Bible-teaching church located in Lexington, Massachusetts. Our Sunday services combine verse-by-verse biblical teaching with a modern, multigenerational worship style featuring current worship music, timeless worship anthems, and fresh arrangements of familiar hymns.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who loves Jesus, loves people, and wants to help build a growing worship ministry—not simply lead songs on Sunday morning.

Position Overview

The Worship Leader will work closely with the Lead Pastor to plan and lead worship for our weekly Sunday morning service.

The regular schedule includes one weekly team rehearsal, Sunday morning preparation and leadership, and the planning, scheduling, and communication needed throughout the week.

We are looking for someone who can confidently lead worship while also recruiting, organizing, encouraging, and developing others. The ideal candidate will help cultivate a worship-team culture marked by spiritual maturity, preparation, humility, warmth, unity, and excellence.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead Christ-centered, engaging worship each Sunday.
  • Lead one worship-team rehearsal each week.
  • Select songs in collaboration with the Lead Pastor.
  • Develop worship sets that are musically current, theologically sound, and accessible to a multigenerational congregation.
  • Incorporate current worship music, enduring worship anthems, and fresh arrangements of familiar hymns.
  • Prepare setlists, chord charts, arrangements, and other musical resources in advance.
  • Schedule and communicate with musicians and vocalists through Planning Center.
  • Recruit, train, encourage, and develop worship-team members.
  • Help vocalists and musicians grow in confidence, skill, and spiritual maturity.
  • Provide clear musical direction to the worship band during rehearsals and services.
  • Coordinate with audio and production volunteers to prepare services and help them run smoothly.
  • Introduce new music thoughtfully while maintaining a strong collection of songs the congregation knows and can sing confidently.
  • Help create an atmosphere that encourages genuine congregational participation rather than performance.
  • Occasionally lead special services or worship gatherings when scheduled in advance.

What We Are Looking For

  • A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a growing personal faith.
  • Agreement with the biblical beliefs and ministry direction of Liberty Church.
  • Previous experience successfully leading worship in a church setting.
  • Strong vocal ability with the ability to lead worship while playing guitar preferred.
  • A qualified candidate who leads from keyboard may also be considered.
  • The musical ability to lead and direct a full worship band.
  • A demonstrated ability to recruit, organize, encourage, and develop volunteers.
  • An appreciation for modern worship music as well as the ability to bring new life to familiar hymns and enduring worship songs.
  • The ability to lead with both confidence and humility.
  • Strong communication, organization, preparation, and follow-through.
  • A dependable, encouraging, relational, and teachable spirit.
  • Familiarity with Planning Center is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of live audio, microphones, monitors, and basic worship technology is helpful.
  • Familiarity with Pro Presenter, Song Select, Multi Tracks, click tracks, or similar worship tools is a plus.

Weekly Commitment

This is a year-round, part-time position requiring approximately 15 hours per week. The regular weekly rhythm includes:

  • Worship and service preparation.
  • Communication and coordination with the Lead Pastor.
  • Scheduling and communicating with team members.
  • Preparing music and resources through Planning Center.
  • Leading one weekly worship-team rehearsal.
  • Sunday morning rehearsal, sound…
