Lexington Montessori School is an independent day school serving toddlers through eighth grade, enrolling approximately 220 students. We provide outdoor education on our 19 acres of woods as well as through our farming program.

Lexington Montessori School is seeking an experienced Spanish teacher to work with students in our Children’s House and Elementary programs, beginning in August 2026. This is a part‑time position (6 hours per week). Elementary classes meet twice per week, and Children’s House classes once per week. While the Spanish teacher collaborates with classroom teachers, they are responsible for designing and delivering the Spanish curriculum.

Montessori training is not required for this position. We welcome applicants with experience in progressive, experiential, and/or holistic education.

Responsibilities
  • Design and provide a creative, adaptive environment which is both stimulating and aesthetically appealing.
  • Participate in the collective design and maintenance of all‑school environments and those shared with other staff (hallways, staff rooms, etc.).
  • Implement a curriculum which is consistent with the school’s mission and diversity tenets, as well as with all‑school curriculum objectives.
  • In the early years, expose children to Spanish in an integrated way and as part of their daily activities.
  • For elementary students, expose children to the rich diversity of the Spanish language and the cultures of the countries where Spanish is spoken using creative, engaging, collaborative lessons.
  • Participate in the continual development, review, and revision of the Spanish curriculum.
  • Participate in, support and nurture the LMS community spirit.
  • Share and coordinate classroom curriculum with other specialists and Spanish teachers, with the goal of providing children with a sequenced and integrated educational experience.
  • Intervene proactively and reactively to maintain a disciplined, respectful community.
  • Communicate observations and knowledge of children to others working with that child: classroom teachers, BASP staff, etc.
  • Communicate professionally, directly, and respectfully with colleagues.
  • Design and implement clear lines of communication with parents.
  • Keep subjective and objective records of students’ progress.
  • Write reports on student progress for parents (EL and CH).
  • Communicate commitment to anti‑bias education in communication with parents and children.
  • Contribute to school publications and keep online information current.
