Lexington Montessori School is looking to hire a part-time, 26-hour/week Learning Specialist for students ages 9 through 14 (grades 4
- 8) for the 2026-27 school year. Responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:
- Design, execute and assess personalized learning plans for students
- Provide individual and small-group support in organization, planning, time management, task completion, study skills, and self-monitoring.
- Help students develop individualized systems for managing assignments, projects, and daily responsibilities.
- Provide targeted support in mathematics, written expression, reading comprehension, and large project organization
- Help students access the curriculum while maintaining appropriate challenge and independence
- Monitor progress and adjust supports as students' needs evolve
- Collaborate with the Learning Inclusion Team to enhance student learning school-wide
- Partner with teachers to identify student needs, develop support plans, and implement effective accommodations and learning strategies
- Participate in student support meetings and maintain ongoing communication about student progress and goals
- Foster self-confidence, independence, resilience, self-advocacy and self-awareness skills
- Help students understand their learning strengths and challenges
Candidates who apply are expected to embrace Montessori principles, build warm, trusting relationships with students, balance support with expectations and accountability and value diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and social responsibility. They should have a minimum of:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience working with 4th to 8th grade students
- Strong understanding of neurodiversity, executive functioning and learning differences
- Experience supporting diverse learning profiles
- Demonstrated skill in math instruction and writing support
- Strong communication, collaboration and organizational skills
Other preferred skills for this position are:
- Montessori credentials or significant experience in a Montessori setting
- Experience in learning support, special education, educational therapy, academic coaching or a related field
- Knowledge of ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, neurodivergence and other learning differences
- Experience collaborating within an independent school environment
