Lexington Christian Academy is accepting applications for the position of Wellness Counselor for the school year. The Wellness Counselor serves as a dedicated champion of students' wellness for the Middle School (Grades 6-8) and High School (Grades 9-12). This role provides a proactive wellness program that prioritizes the social-emotional well‑being, mental health, and personal growth of every student. The Wellness Counselor delivers Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum, offers individual and group support, and serves as a trusted advocate and resource for all students.
RESPONSIBILITIESWellness & Social-Emotional Learning Program
- Design, implement, and continuously improve a school-wide SEL program aligned with LCA’s mission and evidence-based framework (e.g., MTSS)
- Teach classroom lessons on emotional regulation, stress management, healthy relationships, identity, and resilience
- Develop and lead student wellness initiatives, awareness campaigns, and programming throughout the school year
- Integrate a Christian worldview into all SEL content, helping students connect faith and emotional health
- Provide short-term, individual, and group support to students experiencing social, emotional, or personal challenges, with a focus on check-ins and acute mental health care as needed
- Conduct regular check-ins with at‑risk students and maintain appropriate documentation of services rendered
- Establish clear boundaries of scope of practice and provide timely, warm referrals to outside mental health professionals when appropriate
- Serve as primary responder in crisis situations, coordinating with supervisor, school administration, parents, Advocates, and outside agencies as needed
- Maintain and update the school’s crisis response protocols in collaboration with the Dean of Student Success and Wellness
- Coordinate re-entry plans for students returning after an extended absence following a mental health incident or treatment
- Provide post-crisis support and follow-up for affected students and staff
- Advocate for students, maintaining a confidential and welcoming counseling environment
- Partner with families to support student well‑being, offering consultation, parent education workshops, and referral resources
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify students of concern and coordinate appropriate interventions
- Attend student success team meetings and coordinate with SPED related to student IEP/504 and learning plan
- Maintain a structured calendar for student meetings and counseling appointments, shared regularly with the supervisor to support coordinated care and visibility across the student success team
- Maintain accurate records and case notes in SNAP Health, ensuring data confidentiality in compliance with FERPA and school policy
- Participate actively in faculty and staff meetings, professional development, and school community events
- Coordinate and administer annual Student and Staff Support Survey, analyzing results to inform wellness programming and school leadership
- Model Christ‑like character, compassion, and integrity in all professional relationships
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field
- LICSW or LMHC preferred
- Demonstrated passion for LCA’s Christ‑centered mission and commitment to faith‑integrated practice
- Goal‑oriented and results‑oriented with the ability to track and communicate student wellness outcomes
- Strong leadership with the ability to take initiative and drive programming independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborative team player who works effectively across faculty, administration, and families
- High integrity and serves as a positive role model
