Counseling Intern

Lexington Christian Academy, Lexington MA is now accepting applications for the position of Counseling Intern. The Counseling Intern supports the implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes students' social-emotional development and overall well-being. Under the supervision of a licensed mental health counselor and certified clinical supervisor, the intern provides direct and indirect services to LCA students, including individual and small-group support, case coordination, and collaboration with faculty and staff.

This role offers hands-on counseling experience while supporting student well-being within a faith-based school environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individual short-term, solution-focused counseling to students
  • Facilitate small-group counseling (e.g. anxiety, peer relationships, executive functioning)
  • Assist with crisis response and risk assessment under supervision
  • Promote student well-being through preventative and developmental appropriate interventions
  • Assist in planning and delivering school-wide social-emotional learning (SEL) programming
  • Support prevention initiatives (e.g. mental health awareness, peer support programs)
  • Integrate faith-based principles into counseling practices and programs
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant case notes and documentation
  • Adhere to ethical, legal, and school-based guidelines (e.g., confidentiality, mandated reporting)
  • Ensure confidential records of all students per laws and regulations
  • Participate in weekly supervision, ongoing self-reflection, and demonstrate professional growth

This is a part-time position on the 10-month, academic work cycle.

This position is an unpaid internship and intended for academic credit or supervised field experience.
