You may help students with a range of disabilities reach the top of our fully accessible rock climbing wall, escort them on community trips, and support academic and therapeutic work. This role rewards helping students grasp concepts or skills they have been working toward.

We are hiring a 1:1 Special‑Education Classroom Paraprofessional for a student with complex needs. In this position, Program Assistants work in a classroom setting with a lead teacher. Classes have eight or fewer students and two teaching assistants per class. You will be responsible for the 1:1 care of a student.

Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers with the instructional program as requested.
  • Work with the assigned student in classrooms and throughout the program as directed.
  • Accompany the student in specials throughout the day, including gym, art, performing arts, industrial arts, vocational classes, science, and social studies.
  • Escort the student in corridors and during arrival and departure times.
  • Assist with lifting and transferring the student in and out of wheelchairs, standers, and gait trainers (training will be provided).
  • Safely assist in feeding the assigned student as directed (training provided).
  • Assist with personal care if requested.
  • Collaborate with classroom and vocational staff on community trips or off‑site jobs; van driving is required (training will be provided).

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least one year of relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience, education or training for working with students with disabilities preferred.
  • Physician's verification of the ability to lift/position students (up to 150 lb) and engage in strenuous activities.
  • First Aid/C.P.R. certification (will be provided if necessary).
  • Successful TB/Mantoux test.
  • Criminal Offender Record Information (C.O.R.I.) background check.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
