A client of KBW, a publicly traded pharmaceutical manufacturer, is hiring a Controller level consultant to manage a new construction project. The company is expanding and currently building out new lab space in the Boston area. The consultant will be responsible for managing the financial performance of the new construction project. This is a hybrid opportunity that requires 3 days/week in Waltham, MA and pays up to $120/hr.
Key Responsibilities- Budget management
- Develop and manage the project budget, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project objectives.
- Monitor and report on budget performance, identifying variances, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
- Implement cost control processes to track expenses throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain weekly cost reports; evaluating actual and forecasted costs against budgets, and detailed analysis.
- Analyze cost reports and ensure timely adjustments are made to align with financial forecasts.
- Review procurement documentation to ensure conformance to approved project budgets.
- Refine PMO policies relevant to area of accountability as required.
- Prepare regular financial reports summarizing project performance, forecasts, and variances for stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies in reporting practices.
- Support cost accrual review process.
- Conduct financial analyses to forecast the financial outcomes of the project.
- Utilize forecasting tools and methods to project future financial performance and resource needs.
- Support Project Directors with identifying and executing on cost savings opportunities.
- Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Participate in project review meetings and contribute to overall project strategy.
- Support project team as needed with miscellaneous activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, finance, or a related field, from an accredited university.
- May consider an associate’s degree from an accredited institution with relevant experience.
- Minimum 10 years of experience with a proven track record in financial analysis, accounting and management.
- Working knowledge of SAP S4/Hana and Fiori (FI and CO modules).
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn Coupa procurement platform.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with expertise in Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Experienced in aggregating, combining and reporting on unstructured disparate data sources.
