Job Description
Position Title: Field Technician - 12 month
FLSA: Exempt
Reports to: Director of Innovation and Instructional Technology
Terms of Employment: 12-month position, 40 hours per week (260 days), benefits according to the LEA Tech Unit collective bargaining agreement.
Starting Date: July 1, 2026
Salary Range: $76,823.81 – $ (2026‑2027)
Working under the supervision of the Director of Innovation and Instructional Technology, the Field Technician (FT) is responsible for providing hands‑on technical assistance and customer‑facing support in all LPS buildings for resolving hardware, network, peripheral connectivity, and software problems as part of the district technical response team.
Responsibilities- Coordinate with the Technology Coordinator, Technical Support Services Specialists, Systems Administrator, and Network Administrator to provide first‑line troubleshooting, problem resolution, and escalation of user‑reported technical issues across all buildings.
- Image/install or deploy new devices, software applications, hardware, updates, and peripheral devices on all district computers.
- Perform hardware repairs and upgrades, including installing replacement hard drives, upgrading memory or peripheral cards, and replacing printer assemblies.
- Provide first‑line support and maintenance for AV equipment (VoIP phones, voice amplification systems, document cameras, projection systems).
- Coordinate with building and technical personnel to ensure technology problems are reported and resolved.
- Support computer‑based testing, including device preparation and basic troubleshooting of testing applications.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date hardware, software, and peripheral inventory.
- Maintain up‑to‑date computer images for enterprise deployment.
- Assist in remote network management of computing devices as directed.
- Assist in coordinating and executing computer and peripheral roll‑outs or moves within buildings.
- Support the Technology Web Help Desk system and provide extended support for new technology introduced to the district.
- Provide technical support to Digital Learning Coaches.
- Participate in special departmental projects as appropriate.
- Collaborate with all Technology Department staff to ensure effective and efficient technology support that supports the district’s educational goals.
- Conduct other administrative and staff duties as directed by the Director of Innovation and Instructional Technology or as needed by the district.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
- High School or Trade School degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
- Experience and commitment to working in a racially and culturally diverse teaching and learning community.
