The School Staff Nurse (RN) position is designed to provide direct medical care to the students at Cotting in a pediatric school setting. This person will have the experience and ability to promote the smooth and effective operation of the department on a day-to-day basis. At Cotting School you will work in a caring and collaborative environment.

Reporting to the Health Services lead, you will collaborate with a team of nurses and other medical staff including administrative staff, faculty and staff, students, and parents.

This position offers a unique experience to provide a variety of clinical skills not seen in a typical school setting.

• Work within the nursing scope of practice and deliver competent, evidence-based nursing care.
• Provide all necessary clinical treatment as ordered/indicated.
• Establish priorities of care effectively.
• Work collaboratively with parents and healthcare providers to develop individualized healthcare plans for students.
• Appropriately respond to emergencies.
• Administer medication safely and accurately.
• Educate school personnel regarding health-related issues involving students.
• Monitor the health status of students.
• Maintain logs and records.
• Document student encounters thoroughly and accurately.
• Provide personal care for students along with other members of the department.
• Establish a therapeutic relationship with patients (students) and families. Work collegially with faculty, staff, and administrators.
• Provide after‑school, evening, and overnight trip nursing coverage as scheduled and shared among the department.
• Any other duties relating to health programs at the School may be assigned.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday during the school year and Monday‑Friday 8:00‑2:15 during the Extended School Year (ESY). This is a 209-day position which includes the 5‑week summer term.

Full-time

• ADN or BSN degree.
• Must possess a valid nursing license and CPR certification.
• Previous experience in school nursing or relevant healthcare settings is a plus.
• High degree of interpersonal skills.
• Full‑time school‑year position to provide leave coverage from approximately July 2026 to June 2027.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Bachelor degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
