Role Summary
The Preclinical Development group at Wave Life Sciences is seeking a Scientist I to join our team in Lexington, Massachusetts. The role supports safety assessment of our PRISM platform by generating non-clinical safety data and applying emerging predictive methodologies, with ethical use of animals where applicable. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Investigative Toxicology group, contribute to expanding cellular and molecular biology capabilities, and collaborate cross-functionally with other scientists.
The position reports to a Principal Scientist and will analyze data, interpret methodological changes, and present results to cross-functional project teams.
- Maintaining and culturing mammalian cell lines and primary cells.
- Develop, optimize, and execute cellular and biochemical assays to evaluate oligonucleotide associated toxicities using various techniques including immunoassays (e.g., ELISA, Luminex), cytotoxicity assays, and RT-qPCR.
- Analyze, interpret, and present data to various teams.
- Work cross-functionally with multidisciplinary teams.
- Maintain accurate electronic lab notebook.
- Author technical documents, e.g., Standard Operating Procedures, data summary reports and assay procedures.
- A MS degree and 3+ years of experience or a BS degree and 5+ years of experience in cell and molecular biology or related field. Industry experience is preferred.
- Background in developing assays for mechanistic understanding and/or screening applications.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team-oriented environment.
- Excellent organizational skills/ability to prioritize and deliver in timely fashion.
- Self-motivated. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Broad scientific knowledge in immunoassays.
- Proficient in various scientific techniques such as Luminex, ELISA, cytotoxicity assays, and RT-qPCR.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized and detail-focused with the ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative environment.
