Job DescriptionPrimary Duties
The Process Stability and Attribute Sciences group at Client is responsible for elucidating how biomolecules of all modalities are impacted by the drug substance process environment across the product lifecycle from lead identification to product discontinuation. The group interfaces with R&D as programs transition from research into development and serves as a link between the process development and formulation development groups.
The Postdoctoral Scientist will have the opportunity to apply state‑of‑the‑art technology to develop efficient and innovative approaches to understanding how macromolecular structure is impacted by different conditions experienced during the drug substance manufacturing process.
A specific project will be developed by the Postdoctoral Scientist in collaboration with department mentors. Examples of projects may include:
- Developing predictive models for impact of process parameters and materials on protein structure and degradation.
- Characterization of aggregation of complex recombinant glycoproteins.
- Development of powerful DOE approaches for rapid preformulation screening and introduction of integration biophysical methods.
Education and Experience Requirements
- PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or related fields, with 0-2 years of postdoctoral experience.
- The candidate must have first‑author publications in peer‑reviewed journals and a demonstrated track record of problem solving and project success.
- The candidate must have hands‑on laboratory experience in protein biochemistry methodology (e.g., buffer exchange, stress models, forced degradation) and protein characterization (e.g., HPLC, CE‑SDS, LC‑MS, DSC, DLS, fluorescence, HIAC, MFI, etc.).
- Expertise in protein higher‑order structure characterization is preferred.
- Experience with in silico modeling to predict protein structure or macromolecular behavior is preferred.
- Experience with statistical data analysis, ANOVA, regression, and DOE is preferred.
