Scientist, Cellular & Molecular Biology – Lexington, MA

We’re seeking a highly motivated Scientist with strong expertise in cellular biology and preclinical research to join our research team. The candidate will play a hands‑on role in designing and executing cell‑based assays, supporting preclinical and translational studies, and handling human clinical samples in a BSL‑2 laboratory environment. This role is central to generating mechanistic data that enables product innovation and scientifically robust claims across health and beauty applications.
Key Responsibilities- Design, optimize and execute in vitro and ex vivo cellular assays to support preclinical research and translational studies
- Perform routine and advanced cell culture techniques, including primary cells, immortalized cell lines, and co‑culture systems
- Handle, process, and analyze human clinical samples (e.g., skin, blood‑derived) in compliance with BSL‑2, biosafety and ethical guidelines
- Develop, qualify, and run mechanistic and proof‑of‑concept assays to assess cellular responses (e.g., inflammation, barrier function, immune signaling, viability, differentiation)
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams (Data Science, Regulatory Affairs, and Biotechnology) to integrate cellular data into broader study frameworks
- Apply techniques such as flow cytometry, imaging‑based assays, ELISA, qPCR, Western blotting, and other molecular and cellular readouts as appropriate
- Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Immunology, Biomedical Sciences, or a closely related life science field (Master’s with significant relevant experience may be considered)
- Strong hands‑on expertise in cell culture and cellular assay development for preclinical research
- Demonstrated experience working in a BSL‑2 laboratory, including handling of human‑derived clinical samples
- Proven ability to design experiments, troubleshoot assays, and generate high‑quality, reproducible data
- Experience with translational or preclinical models supporting human health or dermatological research is strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of experimental controls, study rigor, and data interpretation
Salary: $100,000–$125,000. In addition to base salary, we also offer a comprehensive total rewards package, inclusive of annual incentive pay, a retirement savings plan, health care coverage, paid time off, recognition programs, and a broad range of other benefits.
