About the Department
Our Research & Development organization brings together the best minds in life science innovation. The teams located in facilities in Lexington and Waltham reflect the full R&D continuum, from early research through late-stage clinical development. We are building a distinct R&D community based on collaboration, partnerships, and cutting‑edge research across multiple modalities and therapeutic areas, merging biotech speed and agility with large pharmaceutical company quality and resources to develop new medicines for patients.
Position OverviewAs an LCMS Bioanalytical Scientist II, you will design, develop, and execute quantitative liquid chromatographic and mass spectroscopic (LCMS) assays to support in‑vivo and in‑vitro pharmacology studies, including proteins, peptides, small molecules, oligonucleotides, and their conjugates.
Your work will contribute to understanding PK/PD and biomarkers that drive efficacy and toxicity, and you will collaborate closely with Chemical Biology, In‑vivo Pharmacology, and other teams across our U.S. R&D Hub and global organization, as well as external CROs.
Relationships- Reports to the head of the Bioanalysis Department.
- Internal relationships with project teams and research colleagues in Boston, Denmark, and other global sites.
- External data communication with CROs and stakeholders when required.
- Individual contributor – no management responsibilities.
- Apply early drug discovery knowledge to advance research projects.
- Provide LCMS bioanalytical expertise in qualitative and quantitative analysis, PK assays, metabolite identification, and biomarker exploration.
- Serve as the bioanalytical representative to project teams.
- Design and perform LCMS methods that are fit for purpose and deliver high‑quality data.
- Collaborate with CROs, establishing contracts and reviewing data to ensure project objectives are met.
- Critically evaluate experimental results, analyze data using appropriate mathematical modeling and software, and produce clear written and oral summaries for project teams.
- Communicate experimental findings internally and externally, guiding project teams on endpoint interrogation and presenting to governance bodies.
- Keep laboratory instruments maintained and troubleshoot performance issues.
- Manage consumables, reagents, and sample inventories.
- Bachelor’s degree required. BS/BA with 8+ years of experience, master’s with 6+ years, or PhD with 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Subject‑matter expertise in LCMS assay concepts, techniques, and platform technology.
- Experience with analyte extraction and sample preparation from complex biological matrices for LCMS (e.g., protein precipitation, SPE, LLE, IP‑MS).
- Working knowledge of diverse modalities—antibodies, proteins, peptides, small molecules, oligonucleotides.
- Solid understanding of PK/PD modeling concepts for preclinical animal models and analytical methods.
- Proficient in one or more LCMS systems, associated software, and data analysis tools (Thermo Scientific, Sciex, Waters/Acquity, Xcalibur, Chromeleon, Bio Pharma Finder, Proteome Discoverer, Sciex OS).
- Experience in a bioanalytical laboratory; preferred experience includes lab automation, liquid handling instrumentation, Win Nonlin, and working with CROs.
- Knowledge of GLP bioanalytical principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated project management, organizational, and time‑management skills.
