ResponsibilitiesAn individual to perform all duties common to general carpentry, including wood and metal stud framing, maintenance and repair, inside finish, hardware installation, installation of suspended ceilings and ceilings with soffits. Install metal and wood doors/windows and door/window frames from knock‑down to solid welded frames to sound transmission class and associated hardware, and all types of door closures that depend on specific door type and location.
Install gypsum and follow all proper steps to finish wall including taping, mudding and final sanding.
- Install and repair vinyl composition tiles, carpet tiles, ceramic tiles and carpeting.
- Install and service demountable wall systems (e.g., Hauserman, Virginia Metals, Acme). Maintain and repair demountable office partitions, doors, and furniture.
- Apply knowledge of wood and concrete subfloor preparation/repair, including concrete forms maintenance and repair.
- Install, repair and maintain various door hardware, emergency exit hardware, lever door locks (Von Duprin, LCN, Best), cipher locks, electric strikes on doors or frames, etc.
- Work with plywood, high‑density board and plastic laminate, wood mock‑ups using dado, butt and biscuit joints.
- Perform other carpentry duties as assigned.
- Climb and maneuver on ladders, staging, aerial lifts, work platforms and/or tight spaces.
- Climb over and around equipment in construction areas.
- Minimum of five years’ experience as a full‑time carpenter, able to read and work from blueprints and sketches.
- Ability to interpret materials and hardware requirements from project details, shop drawings and specifications.
- Experience operating carpentry power tools such as table saw, thickness planer, jointer, radial arm saw, router, and various portable power tools.
- Knowledge of ADA, OSHA requirements and Massachusetts building codes desirable.
- Self‑motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Physically capable of frequent standing, heavy lifting, bending, climbing stairs, and working safely on ladders, staging, work platforms, lifts and tight or confined spaces.
- Able to work over and around equipment located in offices, mechanical rooms or construction areas.
Hiring Range: $51.45 per hour (base salary only; does not include additional compensation or benefits).
