Terms of Employment: 12 month (260 days) with benefits and salary in accordance with the SEIU Local 888 collective bargaining agreement
Shift: MON - FRI 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Hourly Range: $35.6955 – $42.8265 per hour (Rates will increase 7/1/26)
Base Starting Salary: Class 18 Step 1 – $74,246.64
Seasonal Snow Stipend: $600 per the SEIU contract
Annual Clothing Allowance: $400 per the SEIU contract

Job Goal: To maintain a safe, comfortable and functional environment in all town and school buildings in a cost‑effective, customer‑oriented manner that helps the town fulfill its mission of service to its residents and protects the capital investment made by the town in public facilities.
Maintenance functions include routine and emergency repairs and scheduled preventive services for all building systems, weekend building checks, and on‑call services.
Qualifications- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record.
- Eight (8) years of experience in the electrical trade.
- Possess a current Massachusetts Master Electrician License.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal record check (CORI), Sexual Offender Registry (SORI), SAFIS fingerprinting, and a pre‑placement medical exam with drug screening.
- Thorough knowledge of all codes pertaining to the maintenance and installation of electrical systems.
- Proficient in diagnosis and repair of fire protection, security systems, and phone systems.
- Expertise with electrical circuits, transformers, fuses, motors, relays, magnetic starters, switches, grounds, shorts, faults, voltmeters, and other test equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform a wide variety of skilled electrical tasks using hand or power tools, and related equipment to maintain buildings and equipment.
- Possess basic computer skills, including word processing, email, and internet use, or willingness and ability to be trained.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to perform basic math, understand written procedures, write routine documents, and follow multi‑step verbal and written instructions.
- Maintain continuous education credits and valid state licensure.
- Perform a wide variety of skilled journey‑level electrical work in the maintenance and repair of town facilities and equipment.
- Read and interpret shop drawings, sketches, plans, and specifications.
- Prioritize, schedule, assign, and review work.
- Interpret, explain, and apply codes, rules, and regulations involved in assigned maintenance activities.
- Operate a variety of tools and equipment used in the electrical trade safely and effectively.
- Follow oral and written directions and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Estimate labor and material costs for specific projects.
- Make arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.
- Work independently with little direction.
- Meet schedules and timelines.
- Maintain routine records.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Observe legal and defensive driving practices and safe operation of town vehicles.
- Use and operate computer and/or electronic devices to maintain assigned work.
- Training and oversight of apprentices; management of apprenticeship program.
- Training personnel on trade‑specific building operations.
- Project and contractor coordination and oversight.
- Pull electrical permits when necessary.
- Wire new areas; replace or repair switches, ballast, lamps, motors, and other equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance on motors and other mechanical equipment.
- Respond to emergency situations when called upon by a department supervisor.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable building, fire, health, safety, electrical, and any other applicable codes and standards.
