Aquila Technology is seeking a Software Developer to support one of the nation’s premier defense research organizations. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in both software development and the development of AI algorithms and technologies. This role focuses on creating novel techniques and approaches for discriminative and generative AI tasks, rather than simply leveraging existing open-source AI models to accelerate software development.

The successful candidate will be experienced in both software development and the development of AI systems. The job entails the integration of AI software components into prototypes and integrated systems, many of which have realtime or near-realtime processing requirements. This necessitates a detailed understanding of processing speeds in a data pipeline, control of latencies and management of overflow and underflow, and the ability to creatively leverage heterogeneous processing options across different types of hardware to accelerate computations.

Familiarity with AI model distillation techniques, or other methods for edge AI processing, would be very helpful. On the software development side of the work, the successful candidate will be able to leverage any of the available AI frameworks, be skilled in containerization, package management, etc. and ideally have full stack dev experience.
