Office Specialist - Lexington (Bilingual-Spanish)
The State of Nebraska’s Department of Health and Human Services is seeking an Office Specialist to assist with clerical duties, compile and check documents, monitor status, process transactions, and provide information to supervisors for Medicaid & Long‑Term Care and Economic Assistance divisions. The candidate should be dynamic, possess excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, a desire to help others, and speak Spanish.
Responsibilities- Meet federal time frames related to processing of Medicaid & Long‑Term Care and Economic Assistance applications and public assistance referrals.
- Review applications/referrals, ensuring they are appropriate, close duplicate cases, and facilitate merging duplicate persons/cases.
- Utilize the state computer system to maintain current case information.
- Build accurate cases to enable case managers to progress efficiently.
- Assist with clerical duties and compile and check documents, records, and reports to confirm accuracy, completeness, and status of information.
- Process requests or transactions and provide supervisors or colleagues with information for decision making.
- Coursework/training in administrative/office support functions, procedures, and methods, including operation of personal computers and office equipment; research; or areas related to programs/functions of the agency.
- OR experience in customer service or public contact; or applying criteria/regulations; and/or performing administrative/office/secretarial support work including use of personal computers and office equipment.
- Bilingual experience (Spanish).
- Knowledge of program‑administrative work, sources of information, and principles of record keeping.
- Ability to formulate and recommend alternative courses of action, communicate by telephone, computer, email, or correspondence, summarize technical data into reports, understand and apply instructions and program‑administrative policies and directives, and implement decisions to achieve work objectives.
- Learn the organization structure, mission, and activities of the agency and policies and procedures pertinent to the work.
