Job Overview
Fusion Medical Staffing-Nursing is seeking a travel RN Labor and Delivery for a 12‑week assignment in Lexington, Nebraska. The position requires 36 hours per week, 12‑hour night shifts, and offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.
Responsibilities- Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to obstetric nursing protocols
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during labor, delivery, and examinations
- Provide immediate postpartum care, assessing and stabilizing mother and newborn
- Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care
- Respond to obstetric emergencies using evidence‑based protocols
- Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results
- Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures
- Comply with all regulatory standards, hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines
- Perform other duties within the scope of labor and delivery nursing as assigned
- One year of recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification
- STABLE and ACLS certifications (AHA/ARC)
- Other certifications and licenses may be required for the position
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
- Physical stamina: stay stationary, move equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, bend
- Interpersonal: work effectively with varied personnel, maintain a positive attitude and professionalism
- Technical/Motor: grasp, fine manipulation, push/pull, assist with procedures and equipment
- Mental: cope with frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work with occasional supervision
- Sensory: visual acuity and effective communication
