Title 1 Interventionist – Temporary (Partial Benefits, Part Time)

Position Type: Part‑time (25 hours weekly) – Available 08/24/2026

Job Overview

The Title I Reading program accelerates students’ learning by providing intensive intervention and classroom support. The specialist serves students who attend the Title I school for which they are assigned.

Essential Job Functions
  • Provides an additional layer of intensive, explicit, and differentiated instruction.
  • Organizes, plans, and sets instructional goals that meet the needs of individual students and groups using a variety of data.
  • Works collaboratively with school personnel to create a professional learning community and develop goals and strategies in the school improvement plan that enhance student learning.
  • Participates in the MTSS protocol and documents meetings and conversations.
  • Contributes to assessment wall/data conversations and PLCs using current student data.
  • Serves as an academic resource for teachers and parents, and facilitates reading training for professional staff throughout the school year under the direction of the Principal.
  • Participates in implementation of initiatives to improve the education of students within the Title I program.
  • Supports and implements ESSA requirements and associated services.
  • Demonstrates high ethical principles, including honesty, integrity, fair treatment, and respect.
  • Creates an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment for a diverse population of students.
  • Evaluates and analyzes student progress using diagnostic information from running records and other assessment procedures to plan and adjust daily instruction with research‑based interventions.
  • Holds parent conferences to explain the intervention program and assist with family training.
  • Communicates with parents through conferences, monthly newsletters, progress reports, and phone calls.
  • Incorporates 21st‑century life skills into instruction, including leadership, ethics, accountability, adaptability, personal productivity, responsibility, people skills, self‑direction, and social skills.
  • Uses a wide range of standards‑based instructional practices, approaches, methods, and curriculum materials to support reading.
  • Integrates and utilizes technology in instruction and data management when appropriate to maximize student learning.
  • Assists students in developing critical‑thinking, cooperative, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Provides specific, positive, sustaining feedback to students through prompting, modeling, and explicit language.
  • Maintains ongoing documentation of students receiving intervention services using formative and summative assessments to evaluate progress and growth.
  • Participates in rigorous professional development to stay current with research and 21st‑century skills, demonstrating evidence of implementation and growth.
  • Adheres to established laws, policies, and rules.
  • Carries out non‑instructional duties as assigned, not to exceed responsibilities assigned to other teachers in the school.
Minimum Training and Experience
  • Valid N.C. teaching certificate with appropriate grade‑level certification (full‑time and part‑time).
  • N.C. Reading License (full‑time only).
Physical Requirements

Must be able to perform basic operational functions such as fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions; perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly; some duties may require light work up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
