Job DescriptionThis position is a part‑time, temporary position that reports directly to the principal.
The employee is responsible for providing targeted, specialized, and evidence‑based instruction to EC students who are struggling academically (in reading, writing, or mathematics). The employee will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess students, develop intervention plans, and monitor progress to bring student skills up to grade level.
Responsibilities- Provide high‑quality, research‑based, one‑on‑one or small‑group intervention instruction.
- Design, adapt, and implement instructional strategies and curriculum to meet the specific needs outlined in an intervention plan.
- Assess students using a variety of diagnostic instruments and progress monitoring tools to identify specific skill deficits and track growth.
- Analyze student data to inform instructional decisions.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, parents, and other service providers (e.g., EC teachers) to coordinate services and ensure a cohesive educational program.
- Assist general education teachers in adapting curriculum and modifying classroom instruction.
- Maintain accurate, data‑based documentation of student performance, progress, and services provided.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians and staff regarding student progress, goals, and strategies for home use.
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal.
- Strong knowledge of evidence‑based intervention strategies.
- Proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and using student data to drive instruction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Patience, empathy, and ability to build rapport with students, families, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to students with disabilities (e.g., IDEA, IEPs).
- Understanding of components of an effective Multi‑Tiered System of Support for all students.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with principals, directors, support staff, students, and families.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Working knowledge of effective technology tools.
- Ability to work in collaborative teams.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
- Ability to plan and implement short‑ and long‑term goals with action steps.
- Valid North Carolina Teaching License (EC certification is NOT required for this position).
- Relevant experience in education (minimum of five years preferred).
- Exhibits strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
- Exhibits knowledge of K‑12 curriculum, instruction, intervention, and acceleration.
Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of handling, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
