Teacher Assistant – Learning Academy Assistant
Southwood Elementary – Lexington, North Carolina. 10 hours weekly – Availability 08/24/2026. Starting Date:
Aug 24, 2026.
Minimum Salary: $16.93 per hour.
Essential Job Functions- Assist the coordinator in planning and organizing program activities.
- Under the coordinator's supervision, teach and supervise children in the program and work with a specific group of children as assigned by the director.
- If the coordinator is absent, assume all duties and responsibilities of the program.
- Assist in coordinating substitutes.
May perform other related work as required.
Minimum Training and Experience- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Evaluation handled in accordance with Board Policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
Must be able to perform basic life operational functions such as fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Some positions may require light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
