We are seeking a Senior Safety Engineer to lead safety and environmental initiatives within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for driving a proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance with regulations, and implementing programs that protect employees and support sustainable operations.
This position offers the opportunity for direct hire or contract-to-hire, with strong growth potential for the right candidate.
Responsibilities- Lead and promote a proactive safety culture focused on preventing incidents and reducing risk
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental programs aligned with regulatory and company standards
- Conduct safety training for employees, contractors, and visitors on policies, procedures, and best practices
- Perform job hazard analyses and ergonomic assessments to identify risks and recommend improvements
- Analyze incident and loss data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable regulations
- Support and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards and certifications
- Participate in incident investigations and develop preventive safety measures
- Conduct audits and inspections to ensure adherence to safety programs
- Coordinate emergency response planning and implementation
- Maintain records, reporting, and documentation required for compliance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health & Environment or related field
- 5+ years of safety and environmental experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Proven ability to influence and build a strong safety culture
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment
- Experience leading safety initiatives in industrial or manufacturing settings
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and audit processes
- Experience with safety training program development
