About Facility:
Lexington, NC 27292
96 licensed beds
Not trauma designated
Teaching system, but we do not have residents at LMC
Not a chest pain center
Primary Stroke Center
Unit Information:
Average patients/day:
Daily volume is around 30 patients. In the evening, could see 4-10 patients
Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years of ultrasound experience, at least 1 of these years needs to be acute experience
Will you accept a first-time traveler? Will take first time traveler with 5 years of acute experience (will accept some outpatient experience mixed in there)
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
Mostly adults, could see some pediatric patients (not common)
Will see inpatient and outpatient. Could see outpatients up until 1900
Will see a high volume of ER patients in the evening
Abdominal scans, kidney scans, OB studies (typically 14 weeks or less for viability), arms/legs for vascular, paracentesis and thoracentesis (staff typically cover these); no small parts, breasts, thyroids
Required License, National Certification, Certs:
BLS
ARDMS;
Vascular certification preferred but not required
Skills required:
Experience with above patient types
Abdomens and DVT studies are required
Preferred experience with paras and thoras, but not required
Must be comfortable working independently
Support within the Department:
After 1700, only 1 sonographer on site
Lead Tech
Supervisor
Assistant/Transport for department
RT 24/7
Hospitalist 24/7
Rapid Response/Code Team 24/7
Radiologist reading offsite after 1500
Technology/Equipment:
EMR: EPIC – preferred experience
Ultrasound equipment:

Floating:
Portables at bedside for inpatients
Orientation (facility and unit):
NEO
Remainder of 1st week will be orienting
Scheduling:
Typically 10h Days, but manager open to 8h or 12h shift as well
Open to block scheduling
Weekend rotation:
Every 4th weekend, Saturday/Sunday, , call only
On call? Just weekend, see above
Holiday Expectations:
Call only for major holidays; 50% of holidays in contract
Approval of RTO:
To go through manager
