Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

The Buyer is responsible for Nucor’s purchasing of materials, products, and services.

• Process requisitions/purchase orders
• Negotiate and enforce Nucor’s commercial and legal contract terms and conditions
• Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors/contractors
• Contribute to Nucor enterprise-wide and NRF regional purchasing efforts
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction
• Maintain supplier compliance files
• Coordinate with operating departments on cost savings and improved processes
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

• 3 years Purchasing, Accounting or Supply Chain experience in a manufacturing environment or a Bachelor’s degree in a Business-related field.
• Demonstrated experience analyzing data, generating reports, and making data-driven decisions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic data analysis).

• Construction or manufacturing industry experience.
• Demonstrated experience with ERP/MRP Systems (Navision, Oracle, SAP, etc.)
• Experience in the following disciplines: business law, contract management, internal controls, inventory management, negotiations, procurement, risk management, accounting, or warehouse.
