Facilities Technician (Project Management)
Position Description
Primary Function:
Support campus needs in facility maintenance, cleaning services, and landscaping by proactively identifying issues, completing repairs efficiently, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring a safe, functional, and well‑maintained environment across all Hospice of Davidson properties.
Supervision:
Director of People & Facility Operations
Training:
Orientation to Hospice, Home Health, and In‑Patient services and any other training that may be necessary to complete the assigned duties.
- High School Diploma and a minimum of two years of technical school or work experience in one or more of the following fields preferred:
Electrical, HVAC or Plumbing. - Experience in commercial or facility maintenance preferred.
- Working knowledge of the agency, OSHA, state facility regulations and standards.
- Basic knowledge of safety and precautions when operating equipment.
- Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to emergency and crisis situations.
- Basic knowledge of power tools and equipment usage.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, multitask, and carry out various projects in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently, assess facility needs, make decisions, and demonstrate initiative in identifying maintenance issues before they become concerns.
- Team‑player with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, patient/families, and service contractors; maintain professional and timely communication with outside vendors and service contractors.
- Good interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills with the ability to document work performed and provide updates to leadership in a timely manner.
- Regular, reliable attendance is essential.
- Must be current in health requirements of North Carolina and Hospice of Davidson County.
- Maintain current North Carolina driver’s license.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, track progress, and follow tasks through to completion.
- Support general repairs and maintenance of the building structures, facility grounds, and equipment, which may include HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
- Conduct routine walkthroughs to identify and report maintenance needs.
- Responsible for cosmetic maintenance improvements which include, but are not limited to: repairing sheet rock, puttying, sanding and painting.
- Assist staff, patients, and families with moving furniture, adjusting beds, wheelchairs or resolving any maintenance and housekeeping questions and concerns.
- Maintain the buildings’ accessibility, appearance, and functionality through proactive inspection and follow‑through on noted issues.
- Must be accessible by phone after working hours for maintenance questions and available for on‑call services for emergency crisis.
- Assemble furniture and furniture placement.
- Set up and break down tables, chairs, and equipment for meetings and events; assist with setting up and breaking down for events; available for nights and weekend duty when necessary.
- Consult with immediate supervisor as issues and concerns arise while independently managing assigned responsibilities; provide status updates on open work orders or outstanding tasks.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area. Attend OSHA training classes and continuously review facilities for safety concerns. Document identified hazards and track their resolution.
- Perform other duties as assigned or special projects as requested by the Leadership Team.
- Perform job duties in accordance with all Hospice policies, procedures, and professional and community standards.
- Must be a resident of Davidson County and reside within a limited distance to ensure responsiveness for on‑call responsibilities.
- Abide by the Hospice Professional Code of Conduct.
- Coordinate with external vendors and service contractors for repairs, inspections, and contracted work; ensure work is completed to agency standards, follow up on outstanding issues and communicate updates to the supervisor.
